Big Food and Pubs

We’re talking big pub lunches, indulgent dinners, straightforward takeaways and our favourite chippies. And we’ve made sure you’ve got the Google Map link (with address and phone number) for each pick.

Let’s start with a Sunday pub lunch…

Ty Coch Inn

You might have noticed we’ve included this pick twice. It’s one of the Top 10 Beach Bars in the world and it serves local ales and rustic food! The pub’s tiny village home of Porthdinllaen is only accessible by foot through the golf course (~20 mins). If you fancy a longer walk, the walk around the bay will take about 45 mins. A must-see!

The Lion Hotel

Just off the High Street in Criccieth. We recommend the Sunday carvery. You’ll only need the small plate – the servings are rather generous.

Hotel Portmeirion

Portmeirion’s flagship hotel where you’ll find a fine dining within the hotel’s restaurant, terrace and bar. It’s part of the Portmeirion experience, so book ahead.

Pwllheli Sailing Club

A highly respected sailing club and open to the public. They’ve got a café and offer a fantastic Sunday roast.

Glyn-y-Weddw Arms

Only a short walk from Llanbedrog beach, the servings a little smaller, so go for the big plate!

Or some dinner in Criccieth…

Poachers Restaurant

A local chef with a global culinary story to tell. Part of the restaurant used to be the old grocer’s. Book well in advance.

Fancy some takeaway back at Cambrian House?

Castle Chip Shop

Family-run business opposite Cadwaladers (up near the castle). It’s closed in the winter. But if it’s open when you’re staying with us, get in early to avoid the queue! There’s a small inside eating area, but probably easier to eat back at Cambrian House.

Penfras Aur Chip Shop

It’s on the High Street right next to the Post Office. Highly recommended, open all year round and there’s plenty of space to dine-in.

Mei’s Fusion Food

Mei’s mission? Bring proper Asian food to the Cambrian Coast. Eat in, or takeaway. It’s up to you!

Spice Bank

Opposite Mei’s. Authentic Bangladeshi and Indian cuisine.
